Finding the Right Pediatric Dentist
Your baby should see a dentist within six months of the first tooth showing. Don’t take for granted that your dentist will be able to take care of babies and children. If your regular dentist cannot, then you need to find pediatric dentists. Follow these tips from St. Louis Children’s Hospital to find the right pediatric dentist for your child.
The first person to ask about a pediatric dentist is your general dentist or your general dentist’s office staff. They get asked this question a lot and can supply you with a list of pediatric dentists in the area.
The next place to turn to is your dental insurance company or health insurance company if it has a dental plan as part of your coverage. They will not be able to give you a comprehensive list of pediatric dentists in your area, but they can let you know which ones accept their insurance.
You can also ask parents who live nearby and your pediatrician for recommendations. You can go online to read reviews of pediatric dentists, but take the reviews with a grain of salt. Focus on the most recent reviews. Ignore the most negative and most positive reviews.
